LOU SHAN FENG
ART FESTIVAL, TAIWAN

2025-2026 | December 20 - March 1

Installed along Taiwan’s southern coastline at Haikou Port, Scott VanderVoort’s latest work is a horizontally expansive steel sculpture that frames the horizon through a series of precisely aligned openings. Positioned between sea and sky, the piece invites visitors to pause, look outward, and experience the landscape through structure rather than spectacle.

FRAMING THE HORIZON

Place, Perception and Duration

Composed of eleven distinct apertures, the sculpture aligns with the horizon from a fixed viewing point, segmenting the view while remaining open to constant change. Light, movement, and time pass through the work, shifting subtly as conditions evolve.

Presented as part of the Luo Shan Feng Art Festival, the installation draws from the everyday act of standing at the water’s edge and looking out — a quiet, repeated gesture that connects place, perception, and duration.
